County Supervisor Hansberger continues to provide local support in the way of Community Development Block Grant Funding and other project funds aimed at improving the infrastructure of the Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District toward increased/enhanced recreation and leisure service programming. Valley Wide Park Renovation $347,000
 
Upcoming improvements include tennis and basketball courts at Miller Park in Fawnskin, picnic area improvements at Meadow Park, playground upgrades at Erwin Lake Park, Sugarloaf Park, and Swim Beach, horseshoe pits at the Senior Center, Bison exhibit improvements at the Zoo, and a new message board sign for the District office.
 
The Ranch Sports Complex Renovation $350,000
 
Improvements will include new fencing around the entire 14 acre facility including interior fencing for the camp and pool, playground installation, renovation of basketball court, and the completion of the valley’s first public multi-sport complex with three newly turfed regulation soccer fields. Youth Center Skate Park $95,000
 
The valley’s second modular skate park will be located next to the Bear Valley Youth Center in Big Bear Lake (See page 5). The park will feature two ramps with a transition area, fun boxes, rails, and a picnic table component. Click Here for more information.
 
East Valley Park (Paradise Way)
 
The Park District and Big Bear City CSD have partnered toward the establishment of a new park in Big Bear City located on Paradise way including a cement skate park, universally accessible GIANT playground, volleyball, basketball/tennis courts, dog park, picnic area, passive play area, restrooms, and snack bar facility.
